4th NAZRA PSFF – Deadline of submission

Venice, 31 October 2020. After the hard months of lockdown at the beginning of the year which made the Festival tour impossible but which gave us the opportunity to enter your homes through “NazraSpecialStreaming”,  we are ready to relaunch the announcement of the 4th edition of NAZRA Palestine Short Film Festival 2021.

Keeping all the works received in these months, we urge directors, authors, production companies and friends to send us their works not after the 31st January of 2021.

The participation’ rules remain unchanged: the presented shorts must have been produced from 2017 on, with a maximum length of 20 minutes and concerning the history, culture or current affairs of Palestine and the Palestinians.

Dopo i duri mesi del lockdown di inzio anno che hanno reso impossibile il tour del Festival ma che ci hanno dato l’opportunità di entrare nelle vostre case attraverso “NazraSpecialStreaming”, siamo pronti a rilanciare il bando della 4° edizione di NAZRA Palestine Short Film Festival  2021.

Mantenendo tutte le opere ricevute in questi mesi, sollecitiamo registi, autori, case di produzione e amici a inviarci i loro lavori entro e non oltre il 31.01.2021.

Le regole per partecipare rimangono invariate: i corti presentati dovranno essere stati prodotti dal 2017, con una lunghezza massima di 20 minuti e riguardanti la storia, la cultura o l’attualità della Palestina e dei palestinesi.

Given the worldwide emergency situation caused by New CoronaVirus (Covid-19), we are sorry to announce that the 4th edition of the NAZRA Palestine Short Film Festival will be postponed to the year 2021.
The deadline for submitting the works has been extended to a date to be rescheduled within the current year.
The films that we have so far received are considered entered in the competition. They hopefully will be joined by new entries that have been produced within the years 2017-2020.
Further updating and details will be provided through our official channels, the website and Facebook page.

We wish all our friends and followers to stay safe and at home.

NAZRA Palestine short film Festival

Considerata la situazione di emergenza sanitaria a livello mondiale causata dal nuovo corona virus Covid-19, dispiace annunciare che la 4° edizione del NAZRA Palestine Short Film Festival è rinviata all’anno 2021.
Il termine per la presentazione dei film è prorogato a data da destinarsi entro l’anno in corso.
Rimangono iscritti a concorso i film giunti fino ad oggi a cui si aggiungeranno, come auspichiamo, nuovi lavori prodotti tra il 2017 e il 2020.
Prossimi aggiornamenti e ulteriori dettagli saranno comunicati sui nostri canali ufficiali, sito internet e pagina FB.

Auguriamo a tutti gli amici di NAZRA e i partecipanti al Festival di trascorrere al meglio questi mesi di resistenza e attesa.

Venice. February 1st, 2020 – After the success of its first three editions, the transcultural itinerant festival NAZRA Palestine Short Film Festival opens the call for submissions of short films dealing with Palestine and the Palestinian culture, people and memory.

Promoted by Restiamo Umani con Vik (Venice), École Cinéma (Naples) and Italian Center for Cultural exchange-VIK (Gaza City – Palestine) in collaboration with NUR Venice, NAZRA (Arabic word for “look” or “gaze”) is a short film festival seeking to encourage the artistic and film-making skills of young authors, both Palestinian and non-Palestinian, who use the technique of short film to engage with topics such as freedom, justice, human rights, and self-determination in the sensitive context of the Israeli-Palestinian question. NAZRA is meant to raise awareness on the social and political situation in Palestine.

NAZRA Palestine Short Film Festival is an opportunity for Palestinian and non-Palestinian filmmakers with great artistic skills but lacking sufficient financial resources to promote their works; NAZRA also support the film production of young Palestinian filmmakers, showing the highlights of a worthwhile artistic production, still little known by the public and not widely distributed.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

All works dealing with political, historical, social and cultural themes related to Palestine are eligible for entry.

Deadline to submit the short films is April 30th, 2020.

The short films should be submitted to one of the three competition categories:
fiction
documentary
experimental works

Two short films will be also selected for the following honourable mentions:
Nazrat al-Shabāb “Through youth’s eyes” – a short film by a young filmmaker
Vittorio Arrigoni Prize – a short film on a solidarity project.

Shortlisted films will be selected by a committee of experts within the festival’s organization; the winners of each category and mentions will be chosen by an international jury composed by prominent figures of Italian and Palestinian culture and cinema.
The award ceremony will take place in Venice during the opening nights of the festival in October 2020. Screenings and cultural initiatives of Nazra Palestine Short Film Festival will continue in the other Italian, European and Palestinian cities involved in the project. Some of them will be hosted in high schools and universities, where a youth jury will also be appointed.

In the wake of last year’s edition, the 4th NAZRA Palestine Short Film Festival aims at collecting the highlights of a worthwhile artistic production of short films by Palestinian and non-Palestinian authors promoting their diffusion during its itinerant journey while carrying messages of transculturalism, peace and justice.
